The purpose of this Recreational Fishing Forum is to bring awareness to the importance of recreational fishing to the local economy along with issues contributing to its decline. A panel of fishing experts will discuss regulatory issues, funding needs, gathering reliable scientific data, and the economic impact to local communities that recreational fishing brings.
Panelists will include Ray Bogan, a prominent member of the recreational fishing community; Brandon Muffley from the Marine Fisheries Administration; Jim Hutchinson, representing the Fisherman Magazine; Melissa Danko, from the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey; Rick Weber from South Jersey Marina; and Dr. Richard Perniciaro from Atlantic Cape Community College.
Areas of Discussion:
Dr. Eleanor Bochenek (Rutgers University) will prepare a White
Paper on the forum to help quantify the issues affecting the
marine fishing industry. The White Paper will then be used by
the industry to encourage elected officials to facilitate changes
to aid the industry.
