Human Resource and Finance Administrator

The Wetlands Institute is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Human Resource and Finance Administrator. The Human Resource and Finance Administrator will manage and oversee human resources functions including recruitment and hiring, benefits administration and oversight, new employee onboarding and orientation, and retention strategies. In addition, this position will also assist the finance team in various aspects of accounts payable, budget management, and other various administrative duties within the finance and HR departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Activities include:

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Manage and oversee human resources functions including recruitment and hiring, benefits administration and oversight, new employee onboarding and orientation, and retention strategies
  • Review and submit payroll and maintain all payroll files in payroll management system
  • Oversee compensation and benefits policies and procedures in coordination with the Director of Finance and Operations
  • Manage employee training program to educate employees regarding staff policies and procedures

FINANCE ADMINISTRATION

  • Assist the Finance team with processing accounts payable and purchasing supplies as needed
  • Assist the Finance team with completing registrations for charitable donations in various states
  • Assist the Finance team with tracking and monitoring various budget accounts
  • Assist the Finance team with completing and applying for various grants

OTHER ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITES

  • Performs all other Administrative Duties or Special Projects as directed by the Director of Finance and Operations

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an ability or aptitude to perform the above and related duties; a bachelor’s degree in administration and/or related field preferred with 2 – 4 years of prior human resource administration experience
  • Experience with payroll processing and benefits management preferred
  • Broad knowledge of office management systems and procedures; proficiency with computer systems and software including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to interact comfortably with coworkers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with effective time management and organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team

  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching and prolonged periods of sitting are required for this position
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • This is a salaried, exempt position based in Stone Harbor, NJ
